Where Restraint Is Non-Negotiable

• Avoid using it for paragraphs, captions, or navigation menus—it’s a display font, not a text face.
• Don’t force it into all-caps headlines unless the phrase is three words or fewer. Lowercase settings often feel more authentic and balanced.
• Resist pairing it with other decorative display fonts. Clash risk is high. Stick to contrast: pair with a sturdy serif font for body text (think Merriweather or Adobe Garamond), a clean sans serif (Inter or Manrope) for functional layers, or a restrained script font—only if the script serves as a subtle accent, not a co-star.
• Never assume readability at small sizes. At 14px on screen or under 8pt in print, letter counters close up and rhythm blurs. Test early, test often.

2. Print a sample at actual size: 12pt on a product label, 36pt on a flyer margin, 80pt on a poster. Lighting, paper stock, and ink density change everything.
3. Compare uppercase vs. lowercase rendering side-by-side. Some letters (like ‘a’, ‘e’, ‘s’) gain nuance in lowercase; others (‘T’, ‘L’, ‘H’) anchor better in caps.
4. Check tracking and kerning manually—even slight defaults can feel off in tight phrases. Adjust where needed; don’t assume auto-kerning is enough.
5. Try it beside at least three type categories: a classic serif font (for contrast in texture), a neutral sans serif font (for functional balance), and one script font (to gauge warmth compatibility).
